This species is known for its mass annual nesting migration called "arribada", which is a synchronyzed, large scale nesting phenomena. The arribada lasts between three and five days, during this time more than 100.000 individuals nest at the same beach, Ostional is the most popular beach in Costa Rica where this event takes place.
